Patriotic Knits

American Flag Placemat

With July Fourth right around the corner, it's the perfect time to whip out your red, white and blue yarn and knit some patriotic crafts. They're great for decorating all summer long.

Heads Up

I've clearly been in the mood for bobbles (and bobble-like textures, which is what Trinity Stitch technically is) this week, and in case you're feeling the same way, or just looking for an easy and small summer knitting project, I knit up a Trinity Stitch Headband for your enjoyment.

This is the perfect project for using up just about any kind of cotton yarn you've got lying around the house, though you could certainly make it with wool, too, for a more wintry look.

Do You Have a Project on the Needles?

Thursday July 3, 2008
I get the feeling that people don't knit as much in the summer as they might during other times of year. I know I'm finding myself gravitating toward smaller projects (which is bad considering I have two baby blankets I need to knit ASAP) so this week I'm wondering if you've given the needles a summer vacation.

When you answer this poll, think more about projects you're currently working on rather than those UFOs lurking in your closet. Either way, I've still got too many projects to count.
